Get Involved Nationwide

May 1, 2009 and Beyond: What Can I Do??

The marches and demonstrations for immigrants’ rights and workers’ rights in recent years have inspired us tremendously. Whether you are able to join a local event in your area or not, we hope you will consider getting involved in the movement in one or more ways described below.

Si se puede. Yes We Can.

Nationwide:

1. Join the Fair Immigration Reform Movement’s (FIRM) Cellphone Action Network to receive important updates on Immigration Reform (normal text message fees apply) http://www.communitychange.org/our-projects/firm/our-projects/firm/text-alert-action-network

2. Create a Mother’s Day Letter or Drawing for Michelle Obama. We are collecting letters, stories, and drawings in honor of family members separated by a broken and unjust immigration system. Items will be sent to First Lady Michelle Obama to put pressure on the Obama administration to stop the raids and deportations. Staff and volunteers at El Pueblo can translate Spanish letters if needed. The deadline for the Letters/Drawings is May 5th.

3. Sign up to hear more about future actions you can take for immigrant justice across North Carolina and nationwide. NCImmigrants-News is a low-traffic, moderated public announcement list about news and events for people who wish to support immigrants' rights and connected issues in North Carolina. Send an email to ncimmigrants-news-subscribe@yahoogroups.com with your name and city/town, and any other info you want to share with organizers.

4. Join the Virtual March on Washington:
